Ingredients: Water: The spring water used to make BIOFLORA comes from our own wells which are 130 metres deep. This water coming from the valley of the river Alb has flown through many stratums (layers of earth) and is treated or purified in our house. That means the alkaloids of soil which have accumulated are removed (filtered, decarbonized). Then this purified spring water we need for the production is stored in a huge water tank.
Hop: We get the hop of the finest quality from the hop-growing region called Hallertau, from Tettnang and Spalt. The hop which grows on hop poles is processed in two different ways : it is either freeze-dried and pelleted or a hop extract is made from the freshly harvested hop. There are two different kinds of hop: ‘aroma hop’ and ‘bitter hop’. The fact that hop was chosen to be the medical plant of the year 2007 shows that this cultivated plant is not only used in the brewing technology but it also shows promising effects for medicine. Extracts from the ‘hop cones’ have always been of big significance for naturopathy when treating insomnia or sleeplessness, nervousness, restlessness and many other disorders. The ‘bitter constituent’ in the hop plant has an appetizing und digestive effect and also reduces the growth of bacteria. Besides hop stimulates the salivary and gastric secretion. In the past years further secondary components of the hop plant have called attention: The substance ‘Xanthohymol’ seems to have a strongly antioxidant effect. Malt: We buy our malt from special malting plants named Kling, Durst, Schill and Nahe-Malz. The malt is stored temporarily in our capacious 330- ton silo facility. In the course of the germination process in the malting plant malt sugar (maltose, glucose, fructose) was formed which now has to be turned into a (malt sugar) solution. To achieve this, the malt has to be ground. This process is called crushing. Natural essences from fruit and herbs: Natural essences and flavours used to make BIOFLORA come from the actual fruit or the herbs without exception. That means that the natural flavours of orange, herbs and lychees, as well as the extract of ginger and the juice of the elderberry all come from controlled organic farming. This is guaranteed by the official ‘Bioseal’ awarded by the EG-Öko-Kontrollstelle (Organic Food Board of Control of the European Community). BIOFLORA tastes natural - naturally!!
